After reading 500 CVs and cover letters, making 90 phone calls, and more than 10 hours in interviews, you're there ... your new collaborator finally joins the ranks.
To finish this recruitment in style, don't neglect the integration of your colleague. The arrival of an employee is a source of good mood and renewal within a team, so don't skimp on the means.
Here are a few tips that will help you get off on the right foot !
1- Prepare a workstation & access to all the tools
The dedicated, ready-to-use workstation is not only necessary for the performance of duties but also a good way to show the newcomer that he or she is expected and respected. So once the contract is signed and the start date is set, don't hesitate to turn to your IT department to get everything ready on the day.
Prepare a dedicated desk, add some supplies (notebook, post It, pencil, calculator, keyboard and mouse,) and don't forget to make sure that an email address and other access is ready for its arrival.
2- Notify the rest of your company's ecosystem of its arrival and its functions
By notifying the entire internal team as well as your partners, customers and suppliers, you anticipate and facilitate his or her taking up the position. This way, when your new employee is operational, it will be easier for him/her to get in touch with his/her interlocutors and the latter will not be surprised by the change of contact during the exchanges.
3- Organize a welcome reception
This reception phase is classic but unavoidable. It allows first of all to break the ice with your new recruit but also to promote team cohesion.
Breakfast, lunch or afterwork ... it's an opportunity to get to know each other, share anecdotes and put your new colleague at ease by sharing the good mood and team cohesion.
Do not hesitate to repeat this step at key moments in the recruitment process, such as to celebrate the end of a trial period or simply when you have achieved an important success for the development of your company.
4- Announce his/her arrival to your digital community
When a new employee joins your company, it can be a good idea to announce his or her arrival to the entire community as well. This makes it possible to share lighter content and humanize the brand to its audience.
It can be a dedicated article on a blog, and/or posts on social networks (Linkedin, facebook or instagram).
To do so, plan content that combines a short biography - his hobbies and passions - with his missions and responsibilities within your structure. You can also add a photo or even a video.
5- Plan to remain available
It is essential to be available and to stay tuned, especially when the new employee arrives, but also in the following days and weeks.
Think about dedicating time slots for regular checkups, such as at the end of the first day but also every end of the week. This way, you will be able to discuss respective expectations and potential questions.
